What has happened to us? Honestly, Church. I am seeing a growing separation between our worship and the God we worship.
We sing to Him afar off, we hold Him at bay. Yes, He is awesome, He is lovely, He is everything good and nice but God help the person who dares talk to me about my situation, my sin, my stubbornness, my sorry condition.
We want messages that pat us on the back, encourage us, lift us up, play with our emotions but we don’t want to hear about repentance, judgement and sin. Oh, but then we stand up, lift our hands and pray, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territories.”
Our groups lack nothing when it comes to programs, ministries, plans and activities — that is, nothing but God’s blessing. There’s always something happening and always something else about to happen. We have it all planned out. Where’s God in it all? We’ve left Him. We have fallen and left our first love.
If only the Church of Christ would strip off her bulletproof vests and let the Word of God pierce her heart once again. What wonders the Spirit would be able to work in a world constantly groaning with pain and sorrow.
Please pray for the lost. Pray for one another. Pray for me. Pray that the Church of God would be willing to stand before her King unhidden, unprotected and vulnerable.
